ONE-SIDED WAR, ONE-SIDED WAR REPORTING
BBC war correspondent Kate Adie revealed the startling news that the Pentagon was so insistent on controlling the reporters in the Gulf region that they threatened to bomb the satellite uplink positions of independent journalists and other reporters not sanctioned by the U.S. Military. As well as controlling their own media by "embedding" reporters with U.S. troops, they have suggested that journalists out in the field risk being killed simply by being in the wrong place at the wrong time. For example, the U.S. plan includes shutting down all of Baghdad's electronics, and bombing any electronic transmission they detect, even if it is a journalist's telephone or television broadcast. According to Adie, when she asked a Pentagon official if they were concerned with the potentially fatal consequences of such actions, she was told "who cares...they've been warned." She concludes that the Pentagon is "entirely hostile to the free spread of information." Another reporter, Phillip Knightley, reported the same conclusions after interviewing several Pentagon officials, one of whom told him that the U.S. "may find it necessary to bomb areas in which war correspondents are attempting to report from the Iraqi side." SURPRISE! BIG BREASTS AND HARD NIPPLES WON'T MAKE YOU HAPPY
A study from Dutch and Swedish scientists suggests that women who have breast augmentation surgery done for cosmetic reasons are three times as likely to commit suicide than the general population. The researchers believe the problem stems from issues of low self-esteem and poor body image in women who have breast implants, and suggested that surgeons should evaluate women for psychological problems before carrying out any such surgery. "If women have a psychological problem and they are given breast implants they will still have the problem," concluded the researchers. In similar yet totally different news, the new rage in cosmetic surgery is nipple enlargement, done with injections of collagen or cartilage taken from the patient's ear. Nipple surgeon Dr. Bruce Nadler says that most people do it for that "teasing look" of erect nipples, while others - mostly men - have nipple fetishes and want their nipples to be the "biggest, most desirable nipples possible." No word on how many men kill themselves after discovering their super nipples don't make them feel good about themselves. (Reuters Health)

DISNEYLAND OF THE GODS
Erich von Daniken, author of over two dozen books concerned with the alien origins of the human race - most famously in his book Chariot of the Gods - is almost ready to open his theme park dedicated to the alien visitors who are responsible, in his opinion, for most of the unexplained mysteries of our planet. Von Daniken's Mystery Park, set in the Swiss alps, will include recreations of all the major "extraterrestrial works," including Stonehenge, the Pyramids of Egypt, the Mayan temples and the Nasca Lines of Peru. Other attractions will include a giant Imax theatre, 3-D films, and a 360-degree 'all-round' cinema exhibit which will show that humans were created by beneficent aliens who bred with ancient apemen in order to produce modern men and women. ON THE OTHER HAND, A SUCKER DIES EVERY MINUTE AS WELL
A man in New Athens, Illinois has set up a service to try to connect the recently dead with their still-living relatives. His idea, Afterlife Telegrams, finds terminally ill patients who are taught to memorize messages and are asked to try to deliver them to their relatives after they pass away. At AfterlifeTelegrams.com , you can order the service for five bucks a word, but before you waste your money, remember that even the inventor of this concepts admits "we cannot rule out the possibility that there could be no afterlife at all."

MOOOOOD MUSIC
A 10-year-old boy in Georgia has won first prize for his science fair project which tested the results of different styles of music on the milk production of his father's 300 dairy cows. He tested the cows while playing rock, country, and classical music, and found that the cows produced 1000 extra pounds of milk when listening to classical music. (ABC)

WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR?
According to a list compiled by historian William Blum, the U.S. has bombed 23 nations since the end of World War II. The list begins with China in 1945-46, includes Korea (1950-53), Vietnam (1961-73), Libya (1983), Panama (1989), Yugoslavia (1999) and ends with the current bombing campaign in Iraq. Blum goes on to explain that of these 23 countries, exactly zero have formed democratic governments as a result of the bombing.
