FREEDOM - IT WAS FUN WHILE IT LASTED
If you didn't believe that the global elite were running things before, there couldn't be a more blatant wake up call than this beauty of an image designed for Dubya's new Department of Homeland Security. The all-seeing eye gazing upon the entire planet is classic Illuminati symbolism which leaves absolutely nothing to the imagination, a simple in-your-face slam against anyone who was every concerned about the fascist leanings of the Bush administration. As an article on alternet.org points out: "The list of dangerous and unconstitutional powers granted to the new Homeland Security department is lengthy. Warrantless searches, forced vaccinations of whole communities, federal neighborhood snitch programs, federal information databases, and a sinister new "Information Awareness Office" at the Pentagon that uses military intelligence to spy on domestic citizens are just a few of the troubling aspects of the new legislation."MORON OR SOCIOPATH?
Of all the post-"What a moron" analysis out there, the Toronto Star seems to have published the two most interesting articles. The first, by Thomas Walkon, claims that Bush perfectly fits the medical dictionary definition which explains that morons are "educable and do not require institutionalization but need some supervision in working at some simple job." The article points out the Bush is carefully supervised by Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfield and John Ashcroft, and reminds us all that "since the president's inauguration, he's only been left unsupervised once - to watch a football game on television...and look what happened. He fell off the couch, choked on a pretzel and hurt his head." Other analysts take a much darker view. Mark Crispin Miller, professor of culture and communication at New York University, has been compiling Bushisms (Dubya's infamous verbal gaffes) since the 2000 presidential campaign, and his research reveals a man whose syntax and grammar are perfect when he's talking about punishment, violence, and revenge, but who makes simple mistakes when trying to discuss basic values such as compassion, idealism or altruism. Miller's conclusion is that Bush has a sociopathic personality and is incapable of empathy, with an inordinate sense of his own entitlement, and that he is an angry, violent, and vengeful man. "I call him the feel bad president, because he's all about punishment and death," says Miller. "It would be a grave mistake to just play him for laughs."WAR IS BLOODY EXPENSIVE
The World Game Institute (worldgame.org) has once again released figures on the annual military expeditures worldwide, along with some idea of how much money we are wasting with our misguided priorities. In 2002, global military expenditures exceeded $800 billion dollars, with the U.S. at the top of the list, spending about $342 billion. With 30% of the global total (about $810 billion) the World Game Institute figures we could accomplish all of the following for every person on Earth: eliminate starvation and malnutrition ($19B), promide shelter ($21B), remove landmines ($4B), eliminate nuclear weapons ($7B), provide relief for refugees ($5B), eliminate illiteracy ($5B), provide clean, safe water ($10B), provide health care ($21B), provide clean, safe energy ($33 B), and retire developing nation debt ($30B), and much, much more. Despite their overly optimistic estimates, it still gives a good indication of how much money we're wasting on killing each other.GUILTY AS CHARGED
If ever there was a more blatant indictment of the American government's involvement with the attacks of 9/11, it's got to be the appointment of Henry Kissinger as the head of an "independent commission" set up to discover "what really happened" on Sept. 11, 2001. If you haven't yet seen The Trials of Henry Kissinger or read up on the atrocities which this man has committed, do yourself a favour and learn why Kissinger is considered a blatant liar and mass murderer. Having this man, who works within the inner circle of the global elite (with positions at the top of the Trilateral Commision, the Bilderburg Group, and the Council on Foreign Relations), in charge of the inquiry is nothing less than a ridiculous mockery of "justice." Expect nothing less than more lies and cover-ups.WE HAVE WAYS OF MAKING YOU TALK
Scientists are coming ever closer to creating a brain scanning machine that will be able to accurately expose whether a person is lying or telling the truth, and be able to reveal if a person recognizes a familiar face whether that person wishes to conceal it or not. The machine, called a functional MRI, is able to read brain activity which is highlighted when certain emotions are experienced by a person. Researchers are trying to perfect the technique, and hope to have a real lie detection machine to replace the discredited polygraph machine, which can only reveal a person's lies if that person is in a state of anxiety over the lies he or she tells. In contrast, the MRI should be able to reveal untruths regardless of a person's psychological make-up, and will also be used to pick up brain abnormalities which characterize those prone to violence. (Philadelphia Inquirer)PSYCHO OF THE YEAR
Don't miss your chance to vote for Voxnyc's first annual Psycho of the Year Award, at www.voxnyc.com. Along with choosing 2002's scariest psycho, you can also vote in various intriguing subcategories, such as "Most Rampant War Profiteerer," "Most Obvious Psy-op," "Biggest Liar," "Mass Murderer of the Year Award," and "Most Rapid Transformation from Total Scumbag to National Diety."ART IS DEAD
A Dutch artist who made his entire art exhibit out of chocolate is trying to figure out Plan B after the entire work was eaten by art lovers. George Moormann's artwork consisted of 200 chocolate letters. "I took into account that children might steal one or two letters and ordered the chocolate factory to make some 20 letters extra. But I see now they have eaten my whole exhibition."
